Internet Marketing experts, also called Super Affiliates or Gurus or just plain experts have cradled the cream of common business sense and in the doing have created a mystique around their businesses. The difference between them and the rest is simply that mystique. Or is it? These people are generally given credit as being leaders in their chosen fields so is it simply because they are extremely successful or is it because they make the most noise? What I have attempted to do here is break down some of their methods for the benefit of all.

Firstly let us be sure of one simple fact. They have exploited their sales skills to the limit as most Marketers do but the special people go one step further and continually push the boundaries of knowledge and possibility. A traditional business will have a sales and marketing department with specialists to ensure the business is fed with incoming orders. This usually accounts for a number of people who take on a specific role within the Marketing mix, i.e. selling or advertising, PR and customer service etc. Because the Internet is still relatively new in global terms, their position is only set to expand with their imagination.

Exactly the same disciplines are employed online but are called different things. For instance the Sales person is now a telemarketer. Advertising is anything from traffic generation to social marketing. Production is website design and so on. Parallels can be drawn right across the spectrum. The key is that all the standard business disciplines have to be understood and covered and that is where the stellar performers score. They treat it as a business and are looking forward to a very prosperous 2010

What makes these businesses successful is ‘imagination’. Their product is borne from intellect, and they start as everyone should with the end in mind and then work back with a plan to achieve it. This method will put a huge majority of would be Internet Marketers off because they are unable to imagine a path back from their goal because of a lack of the key ingredients of knowledge and imagination.

Another key dimension is cost. Actually one of the reasons so many people try their hand at making a living online is it is relatively cheap to enter, certainly comparing it to a ‘traditional business’ with premises etc. However to do things well cannot be done without a substantial investment. The more complex the business the greater the investment. Technology and people are the two greatest drain on resources. The Gurus have built up the wealth to re-invest and will continue to grow in strength in 2010.

With so many people wishing to become mega rich and successful online there are going to be more failures I’m afraid. Anyone who really has the drive and ambition to be a stellar performer can do it with the right attitude, aptitude, drive, finances and a solid plan as to how to get there. You just have to start and learn your trade through yes the stellar performers but also you need to get some experience and at the same time build a platform from which to grow.

They all have their own products and market other complementary offerings of others. Their income streams are diverse and well managed. They look after their customers with many free gifts and they don’t rip them off. Most importantly they stay honest.

If you have read the whole of this article you are probably considering an Internet Marketing Business or looking to expand your portfolio. Be sure it covers the following key points: Passive income; you sell the product once and enjoy a continuing income from the sale. High ticket sales that boost turnover quickly and high value sales of your own product. Additionally you need to get others selling for you from the affiliate community.

A real killer for you would be exclusivity on a high value, in demand product that can be sold anywhere via traditional and online channels.

There is only one such platform that I know of and you need to go to http://www.lifestyle-wealth.com where you will find a free video tour. It may be the best 10 minutes you ever invest.

There are some very simple SEO techniques available for you to improve your search engine ranking. In the course of my normal analysis of competitors’ websites, I find an amazing number that does not employ all of these techniques, yet every one can help you get closer to that coveted #1 position.

Using these will not in itself allow you reach the top position for your keyword, but they definitely help, and there is no single factor that will enable you to hit the top. A #1 position on Google is attained by a combination of many factors, such as internal and external linking strategies, relevance of your content to the keyword and the overall look and feel of your site. Plus those detailed below.

So let’s get started on these: these are the nuts and bolts of SEO, and if they are not right then you are starting off on the back foot. These are the essential SEO techniques that you must have as a minimum if you want to improve your search engine ranking, and although intended mainly for beginners, many established web pages do not contain every one of these.

I write ‘pages’ deliberately, because Google and the other main search engines list web pages, and not entire domains. That means that every single page in your website should be optimized in the same way: each should contain every single one of the SEO techniques listed below.

TITLE TAG

The title tag is contained within the ‘HEAD’ tags of your HTML, before the ‘BODY’ tags. This states the title of the page, and must contain the major keywords of the page. The contents of your title tag do not appear in the text of the page: its purpose is to inform the search engine spiders what the topic of your page is, and what words are important (i.e. your main page keyword). For example, the TITLE tag of a page based on this article would be “SEO Techniques – Improve your Search Engine Ranking”.

DESCRIPTION TAG

The description Meta tag is used by Google, and other search engines, in the search engine listings. I have tested this with them all and Google uses it as is, while Yahoo uses part of it. You should provide a description of what the web page is about, and a simple check of the descriptions in other sites using your keyword on Google will show you how many words you can use to have the whole description included. About 20 words are fine.

KEYWORD TAG

Search engines rarely use the keyword Meta tag: Google ignores it completely. However, it doesn’t hurt, and can help in a small way. Include your brand name and your own name. That way some engines might show your pages if somebody is looking for your name. The other Meta tags have no SEO value, and do not help to improve your search engine ranking whatsoever.

HEADING H TAGS

Heading tags (H1, H2, . . .) are used by Google to determine the importance of the text contained in your headings. Use H1 tags for the main title of your page (you also use it in the TITLE tag, but that isn’t seen by readers, only by the spiders). Put subtitles in H2 tags. You can change the font size of the text within these tags.

TEXT FORMATTING

Text in bold, italics and underscored are seen by the search engines as having greater weight, and so will be used in determining the relevance of your site. Always bolden your titles, and it also helps to underline it if it doesn’t make it look out of place.

WRITING STYLE and CONTENT

Do not write for algorithms (spiders): write for your readers. Always write for humans and you won’t go wrong. If your page content reads well, and has good vocabulary relating to the topic, then it will have a better chance of a higher listing than if you stuffed it full of keywords. I rarely use more than 1.5% – the keyword densities of the terms ‘SEO’, SEO techniques’ and ’search engine ranking’ (the main keywords) of this article are 1.5, 0.87 and 0.87 respectively. Too many keywords is bad SEO, and could result in a poor listing for your page – if it is listed at all.

So there you are: six simple SEO techniques to improve your search engine ranking. It is surprising how many experienced webmasters fail to apply all of these: there is no excuse, and they are failing to get the nuts and bolts properly fitted and tightened on their web pages.

Apply these to every page and not only will you improve your SEO, but also your chances of a good search engine ranking. It is amazing how many web pages lack these basic SEO techniques.

To find out how to use SEO to get you listed on Google in 2 days, and improve your search engine ranking very quickly check out SEOcious and start to make use of all that free traffic you are going to get.

Aquarium plants, also known as “hydrophytes” offer several benefits for your tank or aquarium. There are a range of different plants to keep, some easier than offers, which can help you build a stunning aquarium. You may be particularly interested in planting in your aquarium if you are considering breeding.

The first thing to do when you get a new plant is to quarantine it in similar water conditions to your tank for a few days. This allows you to get a better idea of its health and if it has any unwanted visitors in the form of parasites before introducing it to your fish. This would also be a good point to remove any decaying, brown or yellow leaves from the plant. This can also be extended to dying roots, taking great care not to damage the overall health by removing too many.

It is also advisable to start off small, especially if this is the first time you have used plants or are not very familiar with how they could do in your aquarium. You will need to know if your plants will sit in a substrate, take to gravel or will need to sit on something external such as driftwood or rocks. Most plants live their lives completely submerged, however some you may find some will flower above water, such as Water Trumpet, under the right conditions. Remember to prune your plants if they grow too well!

As for why you would be interested in keeping plants, there are several solid reasons for doing this. Firstly, they oxygenate the water, which is beneficial to your fish. As plants cycle carbon dioxide into oxygen, Co2 injections are normally helpful in aiding plant growth, but this is not necessary in most cases. One beneficial affect from planting is that they will help you balance the water chemistry, improving the overall quality of your water. This should starve algae or cyanobacteria of food as well, as plants compete directly for nutrients with them. Finally, most plants provide a refuge for fish, particularly fry, which becomes especially useful for a breeder. Java Moss and other bushy plants are particularly commendable for this.

Plants can bring a lot to aquarium, but it is important to begin by growing what you are comfortable with. If you have not had a lot of experience, Anubias, Java Fern or Java Moss are quite easy to grow, with more exotic plants more likely to be successful as your experience increases. A well planted and maintained aquarium can look beautiful, as well as helping keep your water clean and fish healthy.

Imagine that you have just finished developing a piece of unique software that will revolutionise the way that we prepare documents for inserting into Emails, but it is not perfect. I chose this because of the obvious mass market potential. Right, now have a product and have decided that the best way to market the software is on the Internet. Where do you start? Pay someone to do it for you. Teach yourself but you are a technical person and would not know where to start. Advertise it somehow or put it on eBay? Actually you could do all of these and still not get a sale within a month.

You have been told that all you need is a Website with a sales page with a buy now button and away you go. Sounds easy, so why not? You now need potential buyers to read your sales page and if they like what they read, hit the buy button. So where do you get your potential buyers from then because after all, many of the people who could use you software do not even know that it exists and it is not like selling a car. It is actually quite sophisticated and it is this sophistication that a marketing campaign can be built on.

Traffic, traffic, traffic. Links, links, links, I can hear the crescendo from the industry. Traffic is critical but he has to make it stop and press the buy button. Yes he should have links everywhere, all over the Web like a rash but he still has to get people to press the buy button. What this product needs and what the vendor wants is credibility. Endorsements, I mean top quality, sound recommendations from one of the Email industry’s best known individuals or businesses. Then traffic will latch on to his links and queue up to press the buy button.

I can hear the rumblings and comments again from the industry and the answer is Yes there is a whole lot more he can do but whatever comes next will be highly charged with momentum from his endorsements. There is going to come a time when he will have to go to an affiliate exchange like ClickBank and he has to learn how to do that as well. And it goes on. This person who has developed a fantastic piece of software is never going to be a marketer as well but he can exploit the expertise that is abundant out there and he just has to find the right one or ones.

To make it easy for this person to go and develop some more exciting software he should now decide to get others to promote his product after all this is the World Wide Web so why shouldn’t he try to exploit his product worldwide? He needs a word wide network to promote it now and how they do he will never know and frankly does not have to know. His best bet is to find the central point of the network and sell his product once then let others take over and as long as the incentives are in place he can’t go wrong.

Is Internet Marketing easy? Well each channel is not that difficult but there are very few people who can do it all effectively. That is the reason the top performers specialise, They find a marketing niche and ruthlessly exploit their skill and determination in that area. The one thing the stars have in common is quality. They are very thorough and give high value. Now if everyone were to aspire to their ethic, all the rip-offs and scams and ‘never do wells’ would not last and our software developer would find his access to the market a good deal easier.

Another sector for marketing experts is the small business owner with a whole raft of products to exploit through just about all channels. Experience is the key here and usually they are or have access to mentors or coaches. They need inputs just as anyone and are very generous with their time.

It is very certain that marketing online will expand in scope and volume and it is the established business that will be first to exploit further growth and opportunity. If anyone is thinking they can easily access the online marketing disciplines they are in for a shock.

By yourself it is hard, panic sets in and expensive mistakes are made and they give up. They need mentoring and coaching, a kick start is usually a good start and someone running an established and successful business is a good place to get that kick start. 1) AROMATHERAPY:

Candles as a part of aromatherapy calm everyone in the general environment. The scents of the candles are extremely calming like lavender, vanilla, and rose scents. The lemons or citrus, “fresh linen”, “grassy scents will give you a gentle uplift without over stimulation. In the bathroom a candle is better than an air freshener. This is great for the guest bathroom or when company is expected.

Candles on a “warming plate “do not need such close supervision as an open flame, again a de-stressor for some all by it self. You get the scent with the worries.

2) MOOD LIGHTING:

Candles make the perfect mood lighting, because it is subdued and gentle on the eyes. The colors of candles are wonderful too, the soft yellow, light blue, light green and soft rose. They also go well with lots of different decors.

When you get home from work light a few candles while you eat your dinner, the food will taste better and digest better because you are calmer. Use candles while you read, in addition to your regular lamp (we don’t want to “stress your eyes” any more then usual), during quiet mediation and while doing light chores around the house, this brings calm and relaxation in to your environment. A small tea candle in a nice container will relax you to sleep and will burn out after you are gently asleep.

3) ROOM DÉCOR:

Candles in groupings are fantastic de-stressors. Besides being and instant décor changer. Using candles along with a water feature is an added bonus. By using different sizes in an arrangement, this brings out your personal creativity. True you can buy arrangements already made but you lose the creative personal touch. Bought arrangements are good as gifts for instance. Changing the candle displays every so often gives on a feeling of growth and comfort as well as something to look forwards to. All this increases calmness and purpose, eliminating stress.

Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally. ~ Jon Kabat-Zinn

The word Mindful or Mindfulness has a specific cluster of meanings, but it is not all that far from the way mama uses the word when she said “mind your manners.” To be mindful is to pay attention. To be mindful is to pay attention in order to cope with life and live in the NOW. But being mindful is more than just paying attention. For example, I can be aware that I’m acting like an irritable jerk, but still not be mindful of my irritable jerk-dumb-ness. To be mindfully irritable I would have to be deliberately conscious of where the sensations I’m labeling as irritations are located. If I were just aware that that I was irritated, my mind might also wonder around jumping from thought to thought. I might be rerunning the incident that sparked this irritation in me, and imagining me saying or doing something different this time and crushing my opponent, or I might also be watching TV, or answering my wife when she asks a question, and I have the ability to do several of these things at once.

There are benefits of being mindful that come only from mindfulness. You see, when you practice mindfulness you can study yourself, what you are feeling at the very moment you are feeling it, and you can explore that feeling without getting all mired by the guilty past or entangled in your worrisome future. Just thinking is not good enough. If you just think, then the mind will wander, and unleash all sorts of negative thinking and raw emotions including anger, yearnings, jealousy, self-hatred, depression, and every shade and shape of fear that resides within the folds of your brains. If you practice mindfulness you harness and manage your thoughts, which in turn promote insightfulness and inner calm.

Unless you are practicing mindfulness there is no purposefulness to your awareness. There is no conscious effort to bring your attention back to the irritation, or the joy, or the walking, or the eating, or whatever it is that you are doing in the NOW. Being purposeful is an essential aspect of mindfulness. Having the purpose of staying with our experience of NOW keeps us in the present moment. Being in the present moment is a cure to all the negative emotions we feel. Mindfulness keeps us from chewing on the past or the future, regurgitating our guilt [the past] and worry [the future] and then chewing on them some more.

If I am irritated and become mindful of how I am feeling in the present, in my NOW, the irritation eventually dissolves because irritation sprouts from the past and mindfulness is always in the present. If irritations are in the past and if the past no longer exists, then by being mindful you become aware that the irritation in your NOW is based upon nothing, and it is easy to let go of nothing. Mindfulness is a good way to live.

If this were my only life, I would also want to live with mindfulness, so as not to miss anything. And I would want to live with generosity and compassion because they bring happiness here and now, and because I will not be able to keep anything in the end. ~Jack Kornfield

My ole shrink Dr. Frank Shultz use to tell me when I got upset, to: take two or three deep breaths, relax my belly, and then asking myself, “Am I safe?”

Almost always the answer is going to be, “Yes.” If the answer is “No,” then it’s time to call 911 or run like hell. Almost always, in the present, in your NOW, you are safe. Mindfulness is where our calm, contented self lives.

Year of original book/Year of my copy – 1998/1998

Pages – 96

Cover Price – $12.95

Level of difficulty – (1-10) 8

Comments:

I enjoy Norman’s books. He always has planes with great flying capabilities, with heavily researched and informative text. This book is no different, and stands apart from many paper airplane books in that it focuses on paper planes inspired from real gliders.

All paper planes are essentially gliders, so these seem to imitate their real cousins. Watching the Waco plane fly makes those old WW2 black and white newsreels spring to life.

This book contains plans for 16 planes. All will require cutting with scissors, a sharp hobby knife, 65lb card stock or 5×8 index cards, and some form of glue. A glue stick will work just fine. The idea is that you trace or photocopy the designs onto regular paper, then transfer them to card stock or 5×8 index cards to cut out. DON’T CUT OUT THE DESIGNS FROM THE BOOK! It isn’t necessary. While his method works, it is cumbersome and involves a lot of steps. What I did was scan each plan, and put them into a word document. That way, whenever I need to make one of his planes, I print out the plane onto 65lb cardstock, and cut it out. No need to trace or transfer, and I can make unlimited copies. Two 5×8 plans fit on one 8×11 sheet. A bonus is that I expanded the designs, so that one plan fits onto an 8×11 sheet, and you can see the result in the pictures of the Lilienthal Glider and the Waco Glider. It makes a nice, larger plane, and with a little reinforcing of key areas, they fly AWESOME!

So is there anything I don’t like about the book? Not much. Apart from having to scan the planes (tedious, but a one time affair), there is nothing to not like about it. A lot of good technical data, some personal stories and good history of the planes, it makes for a pleasant read. Combined with great flying designs, I am pleased to award this book a score of 10 out of 10. I would recommend this book to adults, and older children (mainly because of the knife work involved). However, the planes are a joy for children of all ages to fly, and I heartily recommend parents making them with their young children to enjoy.

You can see pictures of the planes I made from this book here at:

The rush of the Christmas shopping season is thrilling for some; however, for the majority of us, it’s just awfully stressful. It’s difficult to figure out what many of our friends, family, and loved ones really want or could truly make use of. We also have to be concerned with our budgets as well as with just finding the time to get all of our shopping and wrapping done.

However, we have been blessed with a wondrous Christmas boon in the last decade, which is simply the Internet. The Internet makes Christmas shopping online, right from the warmth and comfort of our homes, a genuine possibility. People who used to attempt to do all of their seasonal shopping by way of catalogues now have an even faster and more convenient method for remote shopping with the ability to hop online and scan for gift after gift from all around the world.

But, to make your online holiday shopping experience pleasing and secure, you have to know the rules of this virtual road.

A couple of things about Internet based Christmas shopping remain the same as they ever were when all we had were bricks and mortar retailers. For instance, if you are seeking certain merchandise and you find a great deal right off, don’t stop yet. There might be an even better deal on offer somewhere else. And, try to do business with merchants whom you are familiar with or with those whom you have been referred to by friends or family.

Now, with the Internet’s benefits of speed and convenience come some hazards. Identity theft on the Internet is notoriously widespread, for instance, and therefore you should only do business online with merchants that show they provide a secure way of paying (look for the padlock icon).

So, what other things must you consider?

  • Remember that looks can be deceiving–especially online. A great website doesn’t necessarily indicate great products or customer service, nor does it necessarily mean that the company abides by the law. Look for indications that merchants online are members of independent quality and identity verifiers such as Trust UK.
  • Don’t put your trust in merchants that don’t give you their full address and a telephone number. And be especially careful with any merchant who is based outside the UK (and make doubly certain you know where they are based).
  • Try to only do business online with merchants who tell you that they have privacy policies in place and won’t be selling your personal information with others.

If you observe these simple rules, you can have far more peace of mind as you hunt down the best deals this holiday season, and the Internet is the perfect place to find the best of all possible deals! Not only do you get speed and convenience, you save considerable travel expense money by cutting down on your need for things like petrol, public transportation fares, eating out, and so on.

When shopping online, you’ll also find some merchants whose core businesses are web-based. This can save you a bundle of cash, because these merchants have fewer overheads to pay for and can pass on their own savings to you with lower prices. Again, keep in mind that online it’s cheap and easy to price-compare.

And don’t forget to surf far and wide to find those special holiday sales that are being offered. Try to hold out as long as you can if you have got something in your sights; as the big day draws closer merchants slash prices to move products, but be careful, you don’t want to have them run out of stock or not be able to ship it in time for Christmas.
